Julio
Moreno Galiano was born in Málaga and grew
up in Coín in the heart of the Guadalhorce valley.
Since earning himself a degree in English Philology from
Málaga University in 1995, he has been working closely
with the foreign community, especially the British community
in various capacities.
The most important of these has been his work as an interpreter,
sorting out those day to day problems that seem insurmountable
when you don’t speak the language well and you don’t
know which of the many branches of the bureaucracy to turn
to for help.
During the last ten years he has been the main troubleshooter
for the foreign community in the area. He has built up a
wealth of knowledge and experience in dealing with all the
various forms of officialdom and paperwork that newcomers
and long term residents are likely to be confronted with,
from the simple acquisition of a residence permit or sorting
out your telephone bill to dealing with the courts, should
you be unlucky enough to find yourself there.
During the course of this work he has, of course, also
built up a very wide range of contacts and acquaintances,
both in official circles and the private sector, who can
help to sort out any troubles and problems that may arise
both here in the Guadalhorce valley and anywhere on the
Costa del Sol.
Julio’s English is not just good but very proficient
indeed. He teaches Spanish to many of the English community
and will translate any official documents that land on your
doorstep. He often finds himself called upon to interpret
at the town hall or the Telefónica offices when things have
reached an impasse. English is not his only foreign language
either he also has a working knowledge of French and Italian.
Julio also has several years’ experience in the local
real estate business both as an independent entrepreneur
and as an employee. This experience has given him a thorough
knowledge of the local marketplace and also of the contractual
obligations of buying and selling property in Spain. Procedures
are quite different here to those in your home country.
